Glamorous Red Park Plaza LA Wedding

Monday, April 2nd, 2012
Monday, April 2nd, 2012

I’ve been waiting for what seems like forever to share this wedding with you.  Today, the time has officially come!  Woohoo!

This is the wedding of one of my awesome couples who had big dreams for a romantic and glamorous wedding.  Some of my favorite elements from this day were the tens of thousands of red roses, gold bird cages, an insanely gorgeous 7′tall wedding cake, plus the opportunity to work with stylish and fun people.

St. Brendan Church, in downtown Los Angeles played host to the couple’s sweet and sentimental ceremony.  The architecture of the sanctuary was absolutely exquisite from every angle.

Following the ceremony the bridal party headed over to the Park Plaza Los Angeles for cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and photos.

As guest sipped their glasses of champagne, they were escorted into the Grand Ballroom.  What awaited them, was nothing short of spectacular.

The couple’s custom monogram was projected onto the dancefloor.  This was a something that I had sketched by hand and was masterfully digitized and refined by Tracy from Lazaro Design.

Because the guest count for this wedding was around 180, I knew that it would be extremely important to fill the space, while bringing guests closer….to create a warm and intimate effect.  We used all long tables dressed in custom burgundy button taffeta linens, topped with outrageously gorgeous 8′ tall red rose topiary style arrangements.

The cake for this wedding was, well…AMAZING!  So amazing in fact that it was features on WE TV’s Amazing Wedding Cakes.  How cool is that!?

Note the hand made sugar flowers, incorporation of the couple’s custom monogram on the second from the top tier, as well as the quilted fabric effect to compliment the custom linens.  It is so nice to work with such talented people who love what they do as much as I do.

Many thanks to the bride and groom for the opportunity to bring their grand dreams to life.  I just love planning fancy fantasy weddings for people  in love!!!!

Friday Flowers: Peachy Porcelina Roses

Friday, March 30th, 2012
Friday, March 30th, 2012

I am excited to say that PEACH is making a comeback in the world of weddings.  I really love peach for many reasons.  1) It is soft, classic, and a fantastic option for those who don’t want to go pink, but also want to go with a warmer tone than ivory. 2) It is a neutral tone and can be incorporated into a myriad of color schemes.

Here is a perfect example of how incredible peach can be…both by itself (topiary arrangements, featuring porcelina and osiana roses) and mixed with other colors (cake base).  It adds a touch of elegance and grace without looking fussy or overly trendy.

Have a wonderful weekend, and as always, Happy Planning!

Fall El Mar Ballroom Wedding

Tuesday, March 13th, 2012
Tuesday, March 13th, 2012

I always say that I have the best clients.  People probably think that I’m just being nice, but I really believe that my clients are some of the nicest and funniest people around.  Bridezillas just aren’t my thing.  I love working with real people who are willing to share themselves with me.

Last month, Style Me Pretty featured the wedding of one of my awesome couples.  Here’s what Style Me Pretty wrote about these two and their wedding:

“This couple just might be one of the cutest, so obviously in love duos we’ve seen in quite awhile. They have that shiny, happy sparkle that only crazy in love lovers have and their wedding fits them to a T. It’s a lovely combination of effortless elegance crafted by Ariel Yve Design and many a sweet moment caught on film by Jake & Necia Odening of The Collective Photographers.”

Nice, right?  I feel pretty lucky to not only have had this wedding featured, but to have worked with people who I truly adore.

Here are a few pictures from their big day.

Four Seasons Biltmore Wedding

Here’s what I wrote about this wedding for Style Me Pretty:

Most of my brides come to me with visions of grandeur. However, Lauren wanted nothing more than to have a perfectly sweet and simple soiree in celebration of her marriage to her long-time love, Justin  It was instantly apparent to me, and everyone who met this couple, that this wedding was going to be a celebration of true love and family. Lauren, Justin and their families are some of the kindest, most sincere people I have ever met (all the vendors who worked on this wedding have echoed my sentiments).

The couple had initially planned to marry in Hawaii, but due to scheduling conflicts, they opted to change their plans and marry closer to home. After suggesting a number of venues, Lauren and Justin decided on the Four Seasons Resort in Santa Barbara. Though this was an autumnal wedding, it was going to be a daytime fete. Because the ballroom was going to be flooded with an abundance of soft natural light, we wanted to use a lighter color palette of fresh greens, peach, coral and fuchsia, tempered with accents of burgundy foliage for contrast.

Immediately following the emotional ceremony at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, guests where directed down the hill to the Four Seasons for the celebration. Upon arrival, servers holding silver trays of fresh bellinis, mimosas and kir royales awaited guests on the El Mar Terrace, which overlooks the Pacific Ocean. Once seated for lunch, guests dined atop a mixture of wooden dining tables draped in burlap and accented with the cutest striped napkins from La Tavola — they were just too perfect to pass up. During the salad course, the couple’s families gave a round of heartfelt toasts and congratulations. The pride conveyed by both the bride and groom’s fathers touched the entire room. Like the champagne, happy tears were definitely flowing. After cutting the three-tiered, pink ombre, red velvet wedding cake, and taking several spins around the dance floor, guests were given freshly-baked chocolate chip cookies tucked inside little handmade muslin bags before heading down to the beach for a final group picture on the sand. As everyone departed and hugs were exchanged, the guests could be heard proclaiming, “This was the best wedding I’ve ever been to!” Lauren and Justin, congratulations on a beautiful wedding, and best wishes for an even more beautiful marriage!

Friday Flowers: Millennium Biltmore Los Angeles

Friday, August 12th, 2011
Friday, August 12th, 2011

I had the pleasure of creating the wedding flowers for a couple named Jessica and Collin, who happened to marry on the same day as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.  Navy as you know is a popular color right now, but I LOVE the chic forest green that the bride incorporated into her wedding at the Millennium Biltmore in Downtown LA.

White rose, lisianthus and ranuncula bridal bouquet, with smaller yet compatible versions for the bridesmaids.

Thought the weather outside was lovely, this classic bride opted for an ultra formal ballroom ceremony.  I just love how she homage to the grooms family by borrowing the groom’s mother’s exquisite heirloom headpiece/veil that she wore for her own wedding day.  It matched the Lazaro bridal gown perfectly!

Classic elegance was the key with this wedding.  The bride didn’t want anything too over the top…she just wanted everything to be tasteful and refined.  We kept the florals super simple yet impressive by creating these fluffy baby’s breath topiary style arrangements.  Don’t you just love the architecture of this space?

Working in such a lovely venue on the eve of the royal couple’s nuptials, made this wedding all the more enjoyable.  Congratulations Jessica and Collin!

Friday Flowers: Dolly Hydrangeas

Friday, July 22nd, 2011
Friday, July 22nd, 2011

Just yesterday, I produced the Summer Soiree, for my local Association of Bridal Consultants group.

The event took place in the formal garden of the Acacia Mansion in Ojai.  Classic Party Rentals provided their Descanso Feasting Tables, which were surrounded by vintage Tuscan rubbed chiavari chairs.  The tables were topped needlepoint lace rounds, dozens of flickering candles of various heights, and Chinoiserie vases which I filled with Dolly Hydrangeas, Garden Roses, Dahlias and Dusty Miller.  After the sun went down on the hedge lined rose garden, the candles filled the space with light that dazzled like fireflies.  It was a magical setting.

I’m sure that you’ve seen regular hydrangeas before, but have you ever seen Dolly hydrangeas?

Feast your eyes on these lacy summertime blooms.

Aren’t these flowers delightful?  The tiny blooms, lend such an interesting texture to floral arrangements.

What kind of hydrangeas are your favorite?

Friday Flowers: Navy and Coral Peonies

Friday, July 15th, 2011
Friday, July 15th, 2011

The weekend before last, my team and I had the opportunity to create this sweet and simple, navy and coral wedding for our clients Jamie and Jay.

The brides looked perfect in her gently gathered ivory A-line gown.  Her bridesmaids looked fresh in their pretty knee length, bateau neck navy frocks.  The ladies’ looks were completed by the coral rose an peony bouquets I created for them.

The reception was held in the Canary Hotel’s Riviera Ballroom.  The walls were elegantly draped from floor to ceiling in white diaphanous fabric…the tables were covered in simple navy linens and the centerpieces consisted of of giant 8″ diameter coral charm peonies, Caramel Unique garden roses, Movie Star roses and pale pink spray garden roses.  The gradation of the color palette was exquisite if I do say so myself.

Congratulations Jamie and Jay!

Wednesday Inspiration: Fuchsia, Orange and Turquoise Tabletop

Wednesday, July 6th, 2011
Wednesday, July 6th, 2011

I just came across this stunning fuchsia, orange and turquoise tabletop on La Dolce Vita.  I love the use of the Quadrille Kazak patterned runners, paired with the fuchsia chiavaris…pure genius and oh so fun!  The hot pink peonies are an ideal touch of simplicity, and the glassware adds a perfect pop of color and texture.

Each of the elements by themselves are so simple, yet when combined they create a symphony of color.

Enjoy the rest of your week!

Friday Flowers: Peonies II

Friday, June 10th, 2011
Friday, June 10th, 2011

With my return to blogging, come the return of “Friday Flowers.”  In honor of the gorgeous peonies that my husband gave me earlier this week in celebration of our wedding anniversary, I thought it would be fabulous to highlight peonies this week.

Check out this dreamy tabletop/chair design that features oodles of pale pink, buttery yellow and white peonies.  So sweet and pretty.  I love the whimsical addition of the white feathers.
